This assessment gauges whether students can identify the historical event depicted in an iconic photograph and evaluate its historical significance. Successful students will draw on their knowledge of the past to identify Dorothea Lange’s iconic photograph of migrant laborer Florence Thompson and three of her children in Nipomo, California and then explain how the photograph was historically significant.
